Food Bloggers Ultimate Cooking Tips and Kitchen Tricks samples and format

Thanks for contributing to the Food Bloggers Ultimate List of Cooking Tips and Kitchen Tricks page!  Please send all tips/tricks and pics to patrick at mexicanplease dot com

The list is going to be long and comprehensive so you can submit up to 3 tips and tricks.  I can’t guarantee that all will make the final list but just know that you can be in there multiple times.  All tips will link back to your site with your name/blog credited.

You are welcome to submit a corresponding pic if you have one but definitely not required.  All photos will be credited appropriately.

Here are some samples from me to get your wheels turning.  They can be funny, embarrassing, helpful, ingredient specific, cuisine specific, or anything you think would be most helpful for people.  Think about the things you wish you would have known a few years ago, those are usually the best ones.  For example,

Why oh why would I keep sticking my finger in egg whites to try and pick out the piece of broken shell?  It never works and there is a much easier solution close by. Use the egg shell!  You can scoop out the stray piece of shell without it being repelled away from you.  Much, much easier.  Patrick mexicanplease.com

I lost countless hours in the kitchen peeling individual garlic cloves before learning the simple, wonderful, life changing tip of smashing the garlic clove with the flat part of the knife or the heel of your hand.   The outer layer gets dislodged instantly and will pull off all in one piece.  Awesome!  Patrick mexicanplease.com

Cilantro is one of the tougher ingredients to store as it tends to wilt quickly.  I twist off the bottom portion of the stems so it will fit in a Mason jar.  Then just add a bit of water, cover it with the plastic bag it came in, and it will keep nicely in the back corner of your fridge for 1-2 weeks.  Patrick mexicanplease.com
